Terry Glenn's contractual situation remains unsolved, and Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones did not take questions Wednesday.
While Glenn has said he wants his release, he also said "I would like nothing more than to be a Cowboy."
He has declined to agree to a $500,000 split salary should he re-injure his right knee, which has been surgically repaired twice. He is scheduled to make $1.74 million this year.
Glenn's fellow receivers miss having the veteran around but did not want to get into the business part of the relationship between Glenn and the Cowboys.
"TG hasn't been here with us the first four weeks, so we've kind of adjusted,"
Patrick Crayton said. "He was here at the end of last season, so we had to go through the whole season basically without him. I'm hoping he comes back because I want to get that Super Bowl for him."
James' duties reduced: Bradie James proved to his new coaches last year he could handle coverage responsibilities, leading to him being a three-down linebacker, but he's not sure he will be on the field as much this year.
Kevin Burnett has handled the nickel and dime packages. Zach Thomas, Bobby Carpenter and James are working in substitute packages.
"I would like to play third down because I feel like that gives me a better chance to go for individual accolades,"
James said, "but I've got to make it work out without playing third down."
Pacman works with first team: For the first time in the three weeks he's been able to practice with the Cowboys, cornerback Pacman Jones took a few snaps with the first-team defense, replacing Anthony Henry.
Henry has worked some at safety, covering tight ends. Jones, Terence Newman and rookie Mike Jenkins handled the corner spots. Coach Wade Phillips said Henry (6-1, 205) is big enough to play safety.
"He's played really well at corner, so we're going to keep him at corner as long as we can,"
Phillips said. "Later on, we'll look and see."
